End of Earth & Beyond is nigh

Electronic Arts announces that it will close down its sci-fi massively-multiplayer online role-playing game in September.
Electronic Arts has recently updated its official Earth & Beyond Web site with the unfortunate news that its "online role-playing galaxy" will effectively cease to be on September 22, 2004. The massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), which was developed by Westwood Studios, will have been in operation for a little over two years when it is switched off.

EA has taken the decision to close the game so that it can focus its resources on future games. Players are advised to check their email for updates and information on what the announcement means for them.

Well, this is a very unpleasent surprise. It's the only MMORPG that I enjoy at the moment, or that I have ever enjoyed for that matter.

I don't play Earth and Beyond, so I don't particullarly care.

How many people were there on at any time? (Average) I just want to know if EA did this too be evil or if they shut it down because nobody played.

Right...

Why would they shut down the servers? Users are paying to play! THEY ARE PAYING!

We aren't paying, yet they're not shutting down WOL...

I suck cock and love it... absolutely love it. And I just got banned for being too immature to be allowed to post here.

That's probably because they're still selling the games that use WOL.

What'll happen after they pull all those games off the shelf is anyones guess though.

My conclusion for why they are shutting down the E&B servers is because of marketing.

They tried to sell a MMORPG in a 4-game bargain pack which isn't very smart. I'm mean, do you even see any copies of the game sitting on the shelf anymore? They barely put any effort into giving that game publicity after the shutdown of Westwood. Poor marketing was the reason in my opinion.

Yeah they are gay.....damn rich white men Evil or Very Mad . Well anyway thats the only reason shitty ass BF1942 is "Popular" because of marketing, have you seen GSA lately? Its plastered with shit about "Battlefield: Vietnam" they probobly spend like 3 million on marketing alone, if Renegade was Publisized like that it would have 1000 people playing it too.

.......and GSA is n00b infested, fuck GSA, and what are those other programs u were talking about?
