I have (sortoff) the same problem. Everytime i host/join a server and leave/quit the server (non-dedicated) my renegade freezes and i must ctrl-alt-del force to close it.
Then when i get back on, WOL says my nickname is already in use :S and makes me wait 2 min+ until my ghost gets killed finally. Its probably a WOL bug, my brother has the same shit and he's on a seperate internet connection (we both have our own).

Your problem MAYBE a port problem. Programs usually freeze when a port they require is still in use or just not available at some point.
It maybe related to your firewall? Since your hosting that server non-dedicated, allow Port 25301 in ure firewall and put this port in renegade Network options Send Delay = 25301
I used to have a lot of Firewall port negotiations Failed but since i put that port as Send Delay, i can join most servers now. Just try it maybe it works. I wudnt know else. sorry Sad
