As far as technology goes, we have sent things out side of our solar system, i am sure we can make it to Mars.

This is not true, Voyager 1 is the man made object that has travled furthest, and it hasn't made it into deep space just yet. after 26 years of flight, it's thought to be in the Termenation shock region of the solar system, the boundry between our solar system and deep space.

And you just proved him right. If the Voyager 1 is in a boundry between our solar system and deep space, it has made it out of our solar system. It doesn't matter at all if it hasn't made it into "deep space" yet.

Bush is nuts, the US already have debts of about 480 billion dollars and they're still rising because of Iraq and Afghanistan and now this moron wants to go to Mars! Yo, American taxpayers! He's playing with YOUR money! First he had his little war and now he wants to send his toys to Mars! The 1st human to reach Mars should be him, on top of a Nuke!

The advantage of launching a craft from the moon to mars is it uses 1/6 (so I have been told) of the fuel to leave the moons gravitational pull
But, what ever planets and/or moons are occupied by our race (humans) we really need a flag to represent our species I don't want them to land on mars and say "right this planet belongs to the US", utter rubbish.

Is it? Considering the vastness of space, and the fact that resources, and jump off points to those resources will be needed, is it really so far fetched that the U.S. should claim ownership of the territory it occupies?
Once you Europeans can land on a planet without crashing, you can challenge the new NASA empire for rights to the inner planets.
By then the American Empire will have conquered Earth anyways....

A permanent base on the moon would have its advantages, but not as much as having a permanent base on mars. Mars's atmosphere is very different from our, but if you were to remove all the trees from earth our atmospheres would be almost identical, which means that mars can be transformed into an almost "second earth".....*blah blah blah*

Actully, the moon is some times seen is a valuable source of minirals...

It still wouldn't be worth all the money of going there.
I'd say no because thereare way more important things to worry about that probably cost way less money to fix. I don't think we should even be worrying about going to other planets right now. He is, after all, a politician, and probably is just speaking to try to sound good. Don't get me wrong I agree with him on most things. Just consider what it takes to get elected these day. Money is the main thing, used to campaign. Besides money you get elected by sounding good, even if you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about (which is often the case). We could conceivably be fed a bunch of made up garbage.
Imagine how stupid you'd feel if you believed so deeply and having no clue that what you believed in was a bunch of garabage. Now imagine you live in the United States..........

Bush had a right to go to war with iraq, so did the uk, I get annoyed with people who moan about it. Bush knows what his doing and anyway, I wish usa good luck with sending men to mars, I think more plannets should be investigated not just mars. China, UK, USA should all put money into it. 1 other thing have you guys ever herd of the Rosswell UFO Crash? well at area 51 apparently usa have alien technology. Do you guys think they are aliens on mars?
