OK, I want to start up another large server. But, I am already shelling out $250+ a month on servers, so I'm hoping that for this one, some of you all might want to help out.
Now this isn't going to be some fly-by-night operation that some people have done where they shut down the server after the first month or two. I have the money to pay the whole cost myself if I had to, I just don't WANT to...
The way The Pits is doing things is great. I will not only offer full disclosure of funds received and spent to those who want to help pitch in, moderator access and whatnot, but also Premium Account access on n00bstories for a long time as well. (and yes, that will have more meaning very very soon)

What kind of size did you intend on it being?
And I know lots of you will love 52+ servers, but the renegade maps were never made for games that large. Still, it doesn't matter.

No, I'm not interested in running a super-large server. Besides, Renegade FDS won't use both processors in a dual-processor system, but two FDSes can be run each on their own processor and have no problem.
Donations towards this server count as donations for premium account access.

It looks like if just a couple more people pitch in, I can get the dual Xeon box for $179 USD per month. Since the FDS doesn't use dual processors, that means 2 FDS on one box. I have no interest in running a superlarge server anyway.

If you have dual xeon 2.4 ghz processors on one machine, it is possible to run 2 FDS's on that one machine but tell each to use a different processor.
(on windows XP PRO, and maybe W2K pro)
