Today I bought a new hard drive because my old one was running out of space. I installed it alright, did everything alright, and it came out alright. The only problem is that the drive does not appear in My Computer or anything. The BIOS setup shows the HD, the hardware manager in XP shows it too, but I cannot select it or anything...I can't defrag it, clean it, format it or do anything because it doesn't seems to exist.

My computer works fine, it's just that I can't seem to install the drive.

Any help/tips?

Have you tried formatting it in DOS?

Your problem is not that it's not formatted.

That's already step 2.

Stap 1 is to make partitons.

You can use this with the dos Program Fdisk, or whatever tools XP deliver.
And of course there are more (better) programs on the net to make partitons.

hope this helps.

After this XP will find the HD then step 2 is formatting it.

Good luck

I have no experience with anyother tool myself then the linux partition manager and fdisk. Fdisk isn't that hard to use, but I don't know if XP still has the program.

Maybe try http://www.download.com or anything for special tools.
