Essential Linux LFDS Server Downloads:
Linux LFDS
Download the Redhat 7.3 Release
Download the Redhat 8.0 Release
Note: : When using another distribution than Redhat7/Redhat8, try both builds. For gcc 2.95 Distributions (older Distributions) the RH 7.3 build should work for you. With newer GCCs (>3.X) RH 8.0 is for you. This already includes the latest beta version of the LFDS that fixes all important bugs and enables custom maps on the LFDS.
Tested Compatibility:
Debian 3.0 Woody: Redhat 7.3 Build
Suse 8.1/8.2/9.0: Redhat 8.0 Build
LFDS Wrapper/Remote Administration
The LFDS's native renrem support is broken, and will not be fixed because there's no one to fix it anymore. But there is a community made tool that provides remote administration capability.
Download it from here.
Supported distributions:
Redhat 7.3
Redhat 8.0
Redhat 9.0
Suse 8.2
Newest Version: 0.3 (03-14-2003)
If you have any problems with the LFDS wrapper (especially non supported distributions, please email me directly!)
brenbot for linux
brenbot is an application for linux thats similiar to BlazeRegulator.net on Win32. However, brenbot is not just a port of BR.NET to linux, it has its own code base.
You'll need brenbot to have a real banlist, add moderators to your server, kick people ingame, have a irc live channel etc.
You can download brenbot from http://www.brenbot.com
Custom Scripts for Linux
Many custom maps and mod maps (RenAlert, Reborn) require the very popular custom scripts libary scripts.dll. As of version 1.5 of the custom scripts, the Linux Free Dedicated Server is being officially supported. That means that all major mods and custom maps run now on Linux!!
To make custom maps on Linux work, you need to do two things:
1) apply the linux binary patch that is supplied in the
official scripts 1.5 archive
2) copy either scripts-RH73.so or scripts-RH8.so, depending on your LFDS distribution (redhat7.3, redhat8) into your renegade directory.
3) run the renegade wrapper 0.3. It will automatically load the approriate custom script libary and start the server.
