Damn Sun servers. We have a Sun Enterprise-4000 at work that has 8 250Mhz CPUS in it. I looked into upgrading it and to upgrade it to 400Mhz processors costs like $1350.00 per processor...OUCH.

Expensive... but reliable as all hell too... the company that my father works at has a Sun server that pretty much runs everything. They once had it up and running and didn't require a reboot for 370+ days and the only reason they had to reboot it was because they were upgrading it. I wish my W2k machine would do that! Very Happy

Yup a high traffic site. If you think about it, a professional website with 1000's of visitors every minute performing queries on a large product database takes some power to run.

You want to see a really impressive server?
Product overview
Specs sheet

He he...My dad works for Sun. He gets to go repair/upgrade all these servers and such when they break or need an update. I have seen just about every part in them too...when you open the doors on that Sunfire 15K, it feels like a huricade hit you in the face. (It has like 15-20 250mm fans in it).

Peace out,

-Kingdud
