Hi everyone,
I'm Kyle, the author of RenegadeIP and the semi-unreleased RenegadeInstall. I haven't checked up on C&C Renegade in a long time, and was wondering if anyone still uses RenegadeIP, or if it even works anymore? (WW might have changed some command that could throw it off...)
I would try it myself but I don't have Renegade on my machine anymore, didn't get around to installing it after reformatting several months ago.
RenegadeIP was/is a simple, quick-loading program that allowed you to connect to an IP address you entered into it. The latest version allowed you to save the servers in a list. It was written as a quick way to get into a server before ASE had support for Renegade, and mostly with clans joining a private server quickly in mind.
If anyone still uses it, please post here and I'll write a few updates for it, and bring the "official" "crappy" site back online.
Thanks,
-Kyle

I tried it once, 6 months or so ago, stopped using it because i didn't know the IPs of any popular servers i joined most often. Pretty useful program i imagine, but i rarely used it myself.
I know there's other people that use it - from time to time you see it on posted desktop screenshots.

Hello again,
I am currently (as in this very minute) working on RenegadeIP version 1.0.6. New features in this version:
* A "New" button that clears all the server information fields and sets the status to "Not Saved."
* A "Create Shortcut" button that creates a shortcut on your desktop that, when used, will launch Renegade and immediately connect to the IP with the information you entered.
This should be done by tonight, and I will post a link to it in this thread.
Please post any desired features you have for RenegadeIP in this thread, or any ideas you have for further streamlining the program. (The purpose of the program is to offer a way to play Renegade on some predefined servers you have entered with as few clicks of the mouse as possible. The Create Shortcut option is a good example of this.)
Thanks,
-Kyle

Any chance you will post the source code for RenegadeIP?
If the answers no, could you think about it again if you ever decide to stop supporting it?
Thanks,
Gib

I will be posting the code for v1.0.6 when it is finished (now looking like sometime tomorrow or Wednesday, but I've got the impression that nobody is anxiously awaiting the release.)
And it does a little more than just pass command line parameters over to Renegade. It saves a list of the servers you have entered, and now creates shortcuts for even quicker access to your favorite servers.

Perhaps if there were a clan game going on and the IP was broadcast in an IRC channel, or if you find yourself joining the same server over and over in All Seeing Eye, you could get IPs those ways.
RenegadeIP was primarily written as a quick way for clan members to get into a server, or to get into a private, unlisted server that you knew the address of.
