i've tried a few things to get my external cd-rw drive to work but it just won't. i downloaded the newest drivers from the web site...but my computer will not read my drive as a cd-rw drive. my os is 98se and my drive is compatible with 98se...so that's not the problem. if you have any idea how to solve my problem...please tell me. ur help will be greatly appreciated.

also if you know where i could go to figure it out...that would be appreciated as well. thank you.

Have you tried reinstalling it?

If all else fails, you could play phone tag with their tech support.

the only thing I can come up with is that your drive is just screwed up or its a CD-ROM and not a CD-RW drive

what type of connection is it? it's possible that 98se doesn't support that type of connection, or the drivers for that type of connection may also need to be updated?

It works just fine...so i'm figuring it's the os. the connection is USB 2.0 but it also says it works w/o 2.0.

98se has some problems with USB support. (in fact, Microsoft claims they there is no, and never will be USB support for 98se.) Here's a few places you might be able to start to get it working?

Win98 SE USB
Microsoft Windows 98SE - USB Devices May Not Work 4.10.2223
