For some reason whenever I try to download anything off the internet I get a "The file is invalid or corrupt."

I'm on XP Home.
Cable Connection.
Using IE 6

What I'd suggest first doing is checking to see if it does it with other browsers (ie. Netscape, Opera). If it still does it check to see if the network card (if not a USB Cable Modem) is not going bad... otherwise check and see if your cable modem itself isn't going bad, or could be your connection. Just because it connects doesn't mean there isn't something wrong either?

When did it start, or has it always done this? If it hasn't, what have you done recently (installed anything, changed hardware, removed anything, etc) to the computer that might have an effect on it also?

If all else fails, you could always contact your cable service and complain that your connection isn't right... maybe they'll come out and tweak something that'll make it work.

It's an auto-connect...so when I turn the comp on, the connection is on...and it's done it before to a few, maybe it's just the luck of stuff, I couldn't tell you.

I see.. I also have cable and have had some things come back like that also. Is it a common problem with downloading larger files? From the same server? It is possible that the places you're downloading from are the reason, but like you said, it may be the luck of the draw downloading as well?
