It's cool to believe in that stuff. Not to go so far as saying "THE ALIENS ARE COMING IN 2005, WE MUST ALL PREPAAAAAAARE", just not discrediting it.
Do aliens exist? The universe is infinite, I think the chances are pretty high.
Are they skinny and gray with big black eyes, flying around in saucers above our planet? No.
Ferhago | I think the surest sign of intelligent alien life is that none of it has tried to contact us
|
I realize that's a joke (Lol ), but I hate when people say "Intelligent life doesn't exist because it hasn't contacted us".
"Intelligent" life does not mean "freaking genius" life. By what sort of logic at all does alien life have to be more advanced than us? Yes, we send out radio signals as an "attempt" to contact alien life. Pphhht. Last I heard, broadcasts from the 40s are only reaching Pluto right about now.
Humanity is sickeningly self-centered. "Because they haven't done anything for/to us" is never a good reason for anything.
Compared to past history, that statement is like:
Poland, 1930: "Germany doesn't have an army hostile towards us because they haven't attacked us with it."
or
Christopher Columbus, 1490: "There are no other continents because no one has sailed to Europe from them."

I defenetly think that we are not alone in the universe.
Think about it, think how big the universe is said to be. Look up at the sky and look at the stars at night. Somone of those stars are thousands of light years away. Somone whre up there there has to be life.
There are 2 planets that have life in this galaxy alone (earth, and neptune) and that is just our galaxy alone. (neptune has life in the water under the layers of ice. At least thats what i heard in school...)

bigejoe14 | The question that has plauged me my whole life:
Is there another earth out there just like ours?
|
In our universe? No.
If by chance a multi-universe theory is correct, than perhaps there is an Earth existing in the same space as ours in "another universe", but in our universe the answer is no.
The evolution of man was so randomly chanced that it would probably be impossible to write the fraction of a percent of a chance that it would have of occuring again.
The earth has existed for 4-6 Billion years, and civilized man for 5,000. There's an unthinkable amount of minute details in those 5,999,995,000 years before man got here that could have changed the entire course of history had they been different. One of the larger ones is obvious...Had whatever killed the dinosaurs (meteor) NOT done so, we would not be here. And there's plenty more, but I won't get into them...
So anyway, the answer is no.

That would be true if evolution was the only factor. But, it isn't. I'm a Christian, so in turn, I beleive in creationism, which is the idea that God created the univers. Since I beleived that God created the univers, there may be another earth like ours. But we just can't be sure right now. I don't know when we will find out. Mabey in 5000 years? Mabye when we all die? Who can say? The earth isn't really that old anyway according to cration. It's only like a couple thousand years old really. So mabey there is another world like ours out there.
So, the answer isn't no anymore. It's, mabey.

First, Neptune is a gaint ball of gass, with a molten core. Second, one of Neptune's moons has ice on it. It is not known whether there is life there. It is certainly possible, but it is not true to say that from what is known about the moon. There has not been a probe to land on the moon, but only fly by satelites on their way out of the solar system.
|
O yea that was it, it was one of neptunes moons not neptune it self

Okay, the answer is a little bit more probable if you look at Creation, but still not very for several reasons.
For one, God is creative beyond belief. Just look around you, do you see anything natural that is exactly the same? There's millions of trees on this planet, and they're all different. You could probably make a generalization like "all deer look the same", and that may be true from a human perspective, but they still have differences that make them unique. So with all that creativity, why just create two things exactly the same?
Secondly, it's not in the Bible . It would make sense if the Bible was just from the perspective of the apostles, but the Old Testament isn't. It doesn't say "And on the seventh day he rested...because he still had a whole 'nother planet to create."
Thirdly, even if God did for some reason create two Earths that were exactly the same (Not something the God I think of would do, though, sounds like a competition), they would still end up being different. Why? Because we have free will. It's stressed in the Bible maaaaany many times. We have free will and the ability to decide whether we're going to lead our mortal lives worthy of an after life in heaven. So, what's free will mean? Everybody's going to be different, and make different choices. Heck, maybe God created a second Earth and on that one, Adam and Eve didn't eat the apple. Or maybe just Eve ate it and couldn't convince Adam to do it.
Even with creation, there's still way too many factors.
(Just for the record, I'm a Roman Catholic but I also believe in evolution)

I'm remined of my older post about time travel. Well anyways the discovery chanel thinks that on jupitors moon named europa there is a vast network of oceans. where there is water there is life.

I think there is 1billion galaxies with 1 billion solar systems in them? Something like that, could be million. The odds are good.

I believe in aliens. Heck, of course the govt would try to cover this up, especially if they have superior techonology to the human race. Also, how do any of us kno if theyve tried to contact us? Maybe they have and we are just to dumb to realize it (crop cirlces anyone?Stone Henge? Grand Canyon?). Also, sure we can look at these other planets and say they are just full of gas and stuff too, does it mean it is? How do we know that the life forms on their arent puttng that up to throw off any other race, or the dont have some kind of "stealth generator" (I know its farfetched, but the United States Military and the Chinese Military both have stealth suit prototypes that allow people to see through them but its very off colored so you can ultimately tell something is there.......once again flame me on this one, I know what Ive seen). Anyway, anyone that says there is no A.I anywhere else in this universe is a complete idiot, and should burn lol.

I have heard that alieans might be time travelers from the future, our humen future and they are here to stop rips in the time space continuume. Learned the from Tech tv. also i think there was a attempt for a stealth generator or time travel called the philideelphia project(spelled wronge) saw that on spike tv..

Hmmm, I love shit like this.
They did exist or will exist and if they are there now we will never know.
The only message we could ever get and receive as information will be so old that were ever it came from will have long gone cold. We look threw out telescopes at places that no longer exist as we see them, the light is too old to see anything we could use. Because its all changed, it doesn’t look like that any more.
Most of the nebula we see at night no longer exist and have since become planets and suns, but we wont see them for millions of years and would never know what happened because by the time that light reaches us, our own sun would have burned cold.
If an alien, you know the sort, green skin, a few too many eyes, looks threw their telescope at us. What they would see right now is a small nebula that will form our sun and one day the earth (in just a few million years). They could not know we are here. And we see the same when we look at them. Funny when you think about it. The whole fucking universe could be teaming with life and no would ever know.
If there was a signal, if by chance we do hear anything other then static, all it would be is TV from another world.
Think about it, we didn’t start looking for Mr. ET until 50 years after the first TV signals were beamed out of Germany, and that broadcast showing those nazi soldiers parading back and forth will one day reach another planet, it will be a long while before our real messages get there, and if they are listening, at all, all they can hope for is to find out what we were like, its unlikely we will be around at that time.
Space travel, possible, but think about it, you can only travel to places you know about, after a few thousand light years your maps are wrong, by the time you get even a short way all your information is out of date and you would end up flying in to something nasty. Even if you could rip threw space, you still wouldn’t know were you were going.
