Installing Renegade:

1. Insert your Renegade CD or The First Decade CD into your computer or click 'Download' in Origin if you have a digital copy.

2. Click through the installer and optionally change the install directory, shortcut y/n etc.

Updating Renegade:

1. Download the latest TT CLIENT patch (at the time of this sticky update; 4.1): http://www.tiberiantechnologies.org/downloads

2. Run the downloaded file after completion.

3. It should automatically detect the installation folder of Renegade. If it does not, use 'Browse' to navigate to the folder you installed it to.
index.php?t=getfile&id=14139&private=0
Make sure the path is valid!

4. Click next and select the language of your Renegade installation.
index.php?t=getfile&id=14140&private=0

5. Choose where you want to have the shortcuts placed.

6. Click install.

ADDITIONAL INFO: The patch will download the required files depending on your Renegade version and will update it to the latest official patch (1.037) automatically if required.

I actually suggest putting in the official patch as an option. It's a more compact download that would interest players with bandwidth limits.

Perhaps you should update as the current install is now Beta 5.

I'm assuming you bought the C&C Ultimate Collection?
I don't own that package so I'm unable to replicate your problem. For me it is running fine (The First Decade version) with Win8 64-bit.

I don't know if any changes where made in The Ultimate Collection or that the fact that it's running through Origin is giving problems so the only suggestion I can make at this time is: reinstall. Huh

I tried the above guideline, yet when I still cannot play. The problem seems to be that when I select multiplayer online, there are no servers available!!

Where do I need to go to play renegade?

What does the MOTD say when you choose WOL to play? (That popup dialog).
Since your problem is most likely on the WOL part (Renegade installs and runs) you should check out this sticky: http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=37326&start=0&rid=2 3454

In addition to Norton/Symantec it would seem Avast may block installation as well. If you're running Avast and are unable to install, please disable the AV during the installation process.

If a mod could update the FAQ, it would be appreciated. I can no longer do this myself D:

FAQ Update:
Quote:

I'm trying to install but it fails. I'm running Norton/Symantec anti-virus software
- Completely disable the AV and try again. If it still fails, please create a topic in this sub-forum.

Known to cause problems:

  • Norton (confirmed)
  • Symantec (confirmed)
  • Avast (possibly)

Avast can indeed be set from possibly to confirmed.
As per http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=40308&start=0&rid=2 3454, there have been more reports on Avast (I somehow missed that topic :/ )

EDIT: FAQ Updated. Thanks Crimson Thumbs Up
