I wholeheartedly disagree with that. Admins already have the power to invisibly edit any user's post (such as this one that I had reported before the edit: post), and there's no good reason to allow moderators access to that ability. The next time there's a 20-page renedrama, it would be horrible if posts contained things that the actual poster never said, and then the threads were locked before that poster could defend him/herself. Leave the timestamps on.

Moderators have the option to not show the edited by time stamp when they edit someone else's post as is.
