Black Screen on 4.0 [message #478116]

Hi

Isolated the problem down to 4.0. After I install it I get a black screen when starting Renegade and a non-responsive program that needs to be shut down via task manager.

It's weird because Renegade always worked fine on this installation so I have tried reinstalling from scratch. Even got 3.4.4 working after replacing the bandtest.dll but still dribbling everywhere sadly.

Any help appreciated.

I would be willing to let a trusted member remote support me if needed.

I had this problem too. Turned out to be the latest Nvidia drivers; 306.23 works but with 310.61 or later it just hangs when you start the game.

Odd, I'm using 310.70 and it's working fine.

Just posting to confirm that it is driver related, as i just recently fresh installed windows.. the newest nvidia drivers are affecting the game from running properly.

Windows 7 (x64) Ultimate
Nvidia GTX 650

Before installing Renegade i had updated my card to 310.70 then
Installed Renegade, updated to 1.037 then to latest 4.0, Downloaded some files provided to me by zunnie, included dxsetup,vcredist, and dotnetfx40.. as i kept getting a black screen, he had no clue, so i did the only thing i could, rollback my drivers to 305.57 and voila it worked again!

I had the same problem with the new driver but I managed to find the solution. You have to go to NVIDIA Control Panel and turn on "Antialiasing - FXAA"
It worked for me and I believe it should work for all of you as well.

I added a new rule for C&C Renegade and turned on FXAA there.

Fixed, definitely an issue when using 310 series drivers on Windows 7; works fine on Windows 8.

Try going to the "Program Settings" tab and chose renegade from the list menu and turn on FXAA there.
