So, if you want to get a lot of watches the trick is to upload a 1 second video that displays 5 minutes on its preview image, that way you can trick people to watch and rake up your views!
Update: Let it play all the way though... nothing, I was pretty sure the counter normally goes up the second you click on the link, as I've noticed my own videos counting me in the past, maybe their server is just slow today.

no, the view count get incremented after each view, just takes a while to update, there's a faq about it on youtube's site
