Shit man, this stuff is coming to America too. I have been watching politics closely. If all else fails, use tor networks or make your own encrypted tunnels. Hopefully anonymous catches wind and fucks them up Wink

For the last 20 years kids have been playing with computers and the result of it is that they are extremely smart now with them. If they pass laws such as this, all the hidden hackers and the known ones are going to come forth and rape the shit out of the ISPs.

i mean seriously, look at what happened with Anonymous so far.. and all the other hacking groups. They are just teens and young adults and there is only a few... Just imagine PISSING OFF THE ENTIRE INTERNET...

Each government is basically fucked. Apple, Microsoft, Norton, and Mcafee can only patch what they have caught. We have no clue what script kiddies have come up with and not shown yet...

the government has no right to know that i downloaded my tranny porn illegally

the main problem with this is that it shows that the entertainment industry still hasn't understood pirating and will try all kinds of inane shit to fight it

Oh shit I remember this. I thought it died, though... but either way ACTA is bullshit and any country that seriously tries to pass this will incite some hate.

I am absolutely against this, however, I do not believe the small amount of people that this enrages will have any affect on our governments' decisions to pass this law. Democracy died ages ago.

The road I cruise is a bitch now, baby.

There charging $50 for a bluray, $25-30 for a dvd, $100-150 for a dvd box set, $300 for a bluray box set and $13 for a ticket.

Yes, i think people will continue to pirate. EXPECIALLY WHEN I CAN WATCH SHIT FOR BASICALLY NOTHING ON CABLE AND NETFLIX.

It is anyone's right to charge whatever they feel, $0 for water at cedar point /six flags and $20 for a beer in NY...BUT its my right not to give into those bastards...
and when we try to get around the price... we are forced to pay somehow.

It may enrage a small number of people but it effects everyone who uses the internet to at least the degree of sending a communication to someone else.

Whether or not the number of people who are angry... eventually there is going to be a large influx of those people who get fed up.

If a serial killer is loose in the next town over, you might show some concern.. but it wont effect your life very much... that is until the serial killer comes to your town and you're suddenly afraid to leave your house.

ACTA is an international treaty signed by the US and a bunch of other countries.
SOPA is a law being pushed through US congress right now.
Google, Facebook and Zynga have taken out a full page ad in the New York Times saying NO to SOPA.
I also read that some group organized a mass "phone your representitive and say NO to SOPA" day.

The world sucks. We are overdue for a global catastrophy that decentralizes all major governments. In fact, I'm hoping one comes soon or else we will all be suffering on a scale much worse in due time.

Democracy is the dictatorship of the majority and could hardly be described as a good system. It may very well be the best working system, but that doesn't mean it's not terribly flawed. Even more so because of populism, shortsightedness and, simply, stupid people.

Democratic republic, dumbshit; the discussion was not about democracy. Look it up before you keep making a fool of yourself.

Which is still not the same as a pure democracy, as it has intrinsic checks and balances that do not exist in a state that is run by the tyranny of the majority.

You lose, sir. Good day!

What kind of checks do you mean? Yes, now we're forced to live the tyranny of the majority in the government. Only difference is that we get to choose who's *SHOULD BE* representing us.

Which makes the system worse, as we cannot hold the representative responsible DURING is time in the government. If he throws out all promises, then we're out of luck. Only thing that's left is not vote for him again, 4 years later.

Besides all this we are now ruled by the majority of representatives. How is that different from the people? Well, there's alot less direct influence.

If you are referring to the constitution then yes, that is a form of safeguard, however, that safeguard makes it technically less of a democracy. It also shows that it is necessary to have hard to change rules about what one/a government can and cannot do.

It works, but is hardly ideal since the best what we could do (if we weren't being zo collectively ignorant) is respect every individual. Now we have someone is telling us that we should get and give fair trails and such. Isn't it plain logic that these kinds of things should happen?

This my friend, shows the stupidity point. if we could *JUST GET ALONG*, behave like civilized beings and such, a constitution wouldn't be necessary. Since we're selfish and totally irrational, we need these safeguards.

Which isn't directly a problem, but as I stated, it's far from perfect or even good. It works, and yes, it's also the best system we have tried to date, but it's not perfect. That is something we should be aware of if we want to move forward with the society as a whole.

Edit: Now, please, try to be civilized and either quit the discussion or, better yet, return with arguments.
