This could be hardware failing our a bad cable. If its the hard drive it could just need a good format not quick but a full format.
You should be having several problems with your computer if that's the case and sounds like you are.

I use both of those programs on windows 7 and they work great.

If that's the case, then these problems have been going on for several months now. The confusing thing is, I have installed with TFD (twice in fact) without problems. This was after I have had problems with any virtual mounting software.
Well, now that I got my answer, I'll try a reformat of my laptop and see if that fixes the problem.
