Svchost.exe is windows app used to manage services. You mostly got a infected with a virus. Its very common for virus to take over this process. It highly unlikely avg would think a windows process was a virus unless it was actually infected by a virus. Don't just pass it up as a false positive with avg.
Go into safe mode and try deleting the one in the common files. If That doesn't work download or create a windows pe disk and try removing it.
