C&C Renegade works on Windows 7 virtual pc? [message #435683]

Hi...I have Windows 7. I bought C&C Renegade for my Windows 7 computer, however, I am now wondering if it will work on my computer. I tried installing it normally and it had nothing but a black screen when I ran the program...I heard audio though. However, if I downloaded Windows XP Mode (Virtual PC-for windows 7) and installed Renegade on Windows XP Mode, would it work now with video and audio? Here is a link where I would but my new Renegade from Amazon.

To run it on windows 7, follow this:

The black screen is due to missing the updated scripts.dll files.

Also no, if virtual PC is anything like vmware it does not do directx.

Yes, Virtual PC DOES do Direct X.

VM software like Codeweavers Crossover software actually does support DX9 and OpenGL2, VMWare does not support any 3D types, not even software 3D. Microsoft's Virtual PC does not support 3D.

Your game will not run in a virtual machine unless you're using Crossover Mac, on Mac OSX.

Windows Virtual PC does *sort* of have DirectX.... but it's emulated hardware only supports something like DirectX 2.0, so for all intents and purposes it does not have DirectX. Try running dxdiag and it will tell you what little it does support.

Install Renegade normally, right click "Renegade.exe" (Or the shortcut), select properties, go to compatibility and check "Disable visual themes". (In Windows 7)
