I recently re-installed Renegade, using my game disc of course, and everything went smoothly. But once I pop in the data disc and click on multiplayer, a message pops up claiming that my installed version of westwood online is incompatible with this product.

I haven't downloaded Renguard or any extra mods yet; all I did was install to make sure it worked fine, but it clearly doesn't. The only problem that I can think of is that the game disc used to do the installing was my own, while the data disk I used was my brothers from his own CD case of Renegade... I asked him about that and he said he wouldn't think it would be a problem since I put a proper serial code in and all. But is this most likely the problem regardless?

Edit: Failed to read stickies, I apologize. First time in years that I've come to a forum.

Did you install the 1.037 patch before going online?

EDIT: Based on your edit can I assume you have resolved the problem yourself? (I replied before getting to the end of the post hence didn't see the edit to begin with. If you have resolved the problem can I suggest you edit the topic title to reflect that?)

I'd be glad to do that, except not so fast because I've stumbled upon another problem. I fixed the initial problem and I can get into multiplayer fine. But then I went back and installed Renguard and the Core Patches so I could have everythng set properly..and after doing so I click on Renegade now and I get Error Code: 00000005.....whaatt? The game won;t even open period now.. I'm so confused.

Edit: Once again I found 00000005 listed under the FAQ sticky. I downloaded the gamelauncher that was suggested and I get the same type of pop up but this time it says The procedure entry point ?Detect_Bandwidth@@YAKKKHAAHAAKKPAUtBandtestSettingsStruct@@PAD>@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library BandTest.dll...

...umm que?

Doesnt renaming scripts work? or reinstalling it? if they both fail, What OS are you running? if your running vista/win7 try setting it as admin mode.

Ok, I seem to be getting closer and closer... I decided to resort to downloading that Resurrection version, and it comes up properly as does the server list. But when I try to connect to a server it says A connection to the server has been refused. Your Renegade version does not match the servers version...

I appreciate the help guys.

What we think, or what we know, or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do.

I'd really suggest reinstalling completely following the reinstall sticky. It seems you forgot to install patch 1.037 under the way... Installing it now will give you more errors on Renguard.

Also, Renguard is required on no more servers except n00bstories.

The 000000000005 error is usually related to not running the program in admin mode.
