Install C&C Renegade

1. Put your Renegade install disc in your cd-rom drive and install Renegade.
Note: if you run Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may need to install in admin mode. To do so, right-click the setup.exe and click "run as administrator".

2. Patches & Updates
(To play C&C Renegade online, you should have an up-to-date version. Therefore follow these
steps after a clean installation.)

2.1. Install the Renegade 1.037 patch. You can download it from
ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/updates/ You should skip this if you have The First Decade
as it already includes this patch.
2.2. Download this corepatch pack: http://www.thekoss2.org/files/cp2complete.zip
unzip it and put all three files (PATCHALL.RTP, PATCHER.EXE and PATCHW32.DLL) into your
"/Renegade" folder (not /Data). Overwrite the PATCHW32.DLL if already existing.
Now execute the PATCHER.EXE
Note: if you run Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may need to install in admin mode. To do so,
right-click the setup.exe and click "run as administrator".

2.3. Download and install scripts 3, latest stable version which you can download here: http://4camp.net/scripts344.exe
We recommend you to uncheck 'bloom' in the setup. If you have a rather old PC, also uncheck 'shaders'.

2.4 Right click on your /renegade desktop icon. Under properties select the shortcut tab, then replace the target with C\:Westwood\Renegade\game2.exe. Do the same in the start menu. Select Westwood, right click on Renegade, select Properties . shortcuts. replace teh target with C\:Westwood\renegade\Game2.exe

4. Go and play Renegade

This worked for me but you have to follow the directions exactly as written

Did you not notice the topmost sticky on this board? Thanks, but it's covered (should be more visible, I suppose).

Cool, everything seems to work fine , now i need to get it to look better. I didn't click bloom or anything else for the latest scripts patch but sum things seem kinda scrunched on my new widescreen lcd. My new comp should be able to handle medium to "extra medium" graphic demands so what should i check or uncheck as far as ddl graphics etc.?

ren has no widescreen support (yet). So you have to live with it being stretched

I prefer playing on middle settings. on max settings you see nothing but smoke/fire when you're under heavy attack and easily lose your target ... gameplay > look Big Grin

I just play ren on a lower resolution because it gets stretched. Plays alot better imo Thumbs Up

Also i agree on the gameplay > look but if i have to possibility to max out settings, i always do it Wink

depends on your vid card (and other components a bit). Just go down in res and check if FPS stabilizes. Hopefully you dont have to go down to 800 Very Happy

ty, i experimented and found that just going down 1 level seems to help and none of the lettering gets all distorted like lower levels
