Use the serial changer utility that's sticked in General Discussion.

or goto Run and type in regedit, then goto,HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Westwood\Renegade, click on Renegade, in the box to the right look for serial, and that is your game serial, just dbl click it to be able to copy paste.

It most definitely is if you have The First Decade. I'm not sure for plain Renegade but i dont see why it would have been changed for The First Decade :S
The WOLData.key file in you renegade folder is your serial but not plain afaik (hash? anyway deleting that file wont disable/kill a thing ). That registry key, on the other hand, is your key in its plain form.

HaTe wrote on Thu, 17 December 2009 18:21 | For Windows users, go to Start, and then Run. Type in regedit and click OK. The registry will open. Search for the game's title (ctrl - f). Hit F3 to continue the search if the title doesn't show up on the first page. If you look in the data column, you may see a long string of numbers and letters that looks like a serial number. Write it down and save it.
Google pwns, worked for me. You may have to use f3 several times, the name of the folder should be Serial.

This way is the easiest tbh, you don't have to download anything.
|
Apparantly that way won't work unless you have TFD btw..

And like I said, it doesn't work for me. I have my CD key sitting right beside me, and the value in the registry definately is not the same. Like Saberhawk said, the original renegade installer stores your serial encrypted.
Anyways you said that it was a long string of numbers and letters... pretty sure serials don't have letters but I'm guessing you just put that in by mistake.

HaTe, please READ the topic, it has already been stated that SOME Renegade installers encrypted the serial key in the registry while some did not. Why some do and some do not is unknown and not really relevant to the topic, the end result is that for an accurate result you should use the serial changer tool.
