Personally I think they're starting to get pretty annoying
especially about leaving out small details in their new commercials
like this one

Good idea to buy a mac since I'll have to start fresh anyways!
oh wait now I'll have to buy a 2000$ mac and 90% of the stuff on my pc won't work and I'm already on Vista so all my stuff will transfer over anyways

They've kinda lost their cleverness over time. Plus, they're not really meant for people like you and me that know that Mac's are totally dumb.
Instead, those commercials, especially this one in particular, are targeted towards people who can't seem to just Google and find out how to transfer their data, or install the new OS. Coincidentally, they're just as dumb as Mac's.

Yeah these commercials are getting really annoying as well as they're trying to hard. Vista sucked for sure, but 7 is actually a decent OS. The best parts of XP and Vista rolled into one and then some.
The Mac OS is nice, but their computers are far too expensive.

-Bad compatibility with XP programs and games.
-Bad compatibility with a lot of hardware. And of a lot of the hardware that did work, you had to go through a song and dance to get it working.
-Try networking a Vista PC with an XP PC. (I shutter at the hours I spent wasting away trying to figure out the password on a computer that had no password.)
-Security that was either extremely annoying or flat out absent.
-A lot of hidden options or just unnecessarily moved ones. (A problem that might take a few seconds to fix on XP would take over an hour in Vista simply because the options for it were hard to find and the way the options were set up were completely different than they were in XP.)
-Resource hog that slowed down any simple task that you wanted to accomplish dramatically.
Just to name a few.
I never bought Vista myself, but I used it on friend's computers, family member computers, and public computers. I always had issues trying to figure out simple tasks. It was a nightmare. It made using the computer so much harder than it had to be. I'm the guy in my family that people go to for computer assistance. But, every time someone had a problem with Vista, I could not fix it.. I had to figure out a compromise. And that's after hours of fiddling.
With Windows 7, however, I couldn't be happier. It essentially works like XP, has the good features of Vista, & adds and fixes a lot of new features with compatibility and security. Not only that, but it runs incredibly smooth and looks good doing it.

This. Vista had a few nice parts to it, but it was by no means a casual computer. And it had a good lot of problems for gamers. So that basically leaves just developers, which are not a majority when it comes to PC users.
Plus, for every nice part, there were about 5 bad ones.

Derp derp. It had bad compatibility with DOS programs and games. So does XP. I still get the occasional problem getting Civilization 2 to run on my XP machine without the use of an ISO. What your basically complaining about is "Things that aren't meant to run on this OS aren't running!"

This is an argument against all updating. Most people had the same problem with Office 2007. This isn't the program's fault, but the users. There's an unrealistic expectation of "I know how to use X, so it should be the same on Y", when there's no reason to believe it's such. You paid for something new.

Yeah, I had the same problem when I tried to put XP on a P2, 233 MHz machine way back when, and I have the same problem when trying to play NWN2 on my current machine. It helps if your machine meets the minimal requirements of what you're running.

Never experienced any. In fact, games I couldn't run on my XP machine (Halo 2, NWN2, Spore) I managed to get working on Vista.

Have fun watching your OS boot and run slower and slower every week. I'm not sure if I'd buy an iMac, but for most students, a Macbook > a Windows laptop if they can afford it. OS X is already sharper when it comes to most casual tasks, but this multi-touch keyboard technology is leaps beyond what Windows notebooks are offering when you don't have a mouse laying around. The battery life is second to none as well. I have a Macbook Pro, but the regular Macbooks now have these features as well since the newest revision and they cost 999$/ 949$ with student discount, which isn't too bad.
Oh and if you really can't live without some Windows-only software, you can just install Windows.

Actually, just about anything running windows > Macbook because:
-Students are poor, and Mac's charge more to make you feel special.

Paying double? That's not true, Sony Vaio notebooks are generally more expensive than Macbooks, Dell notebooks are generally a bit cheaper. The price difference is greatly exaggerated and silly to use in a debate without providing an example.
Changing the RAM and Harddrive doesn't void your warranty - what else are you going to change on a notebook? That's more than enough for 90% of students' needs.

Moot points.
-Students might be poor at your community college, but most of them aren't too worried about a price difference that corresponds to roughly one night of extensive clubbing.
-Pages is superior to Word, but I have the feeling I'm arguing with someone who, unlike me, hasn't written term papers with both. Pages simply gives you cleaner layout. I haven't experienced any compatibility issues, either. Keynote is miles ahead of Powerpoint...it's really easy to make a presentation look professional with those templates, Powerpoint doesn't even come close. I'm not an avid Excel/Numbers user, so I can't comment on those two.
-Those last two points just show there your argument is heading - nowhere. So you're trying to tell me that my point about most students being better off with a Macbook is wrong because I disregarded the horde of IT-nerds and hardcore gaming-addicts?

If you don't have a mouse laying around, you don't get to use your computer. Touchpads suck, and nothing Apple can do to them will fix that.

Not sure how things work in community college, but you won't be catching too many students around here that carry their mice along with them...it's an inconvenience that no longer necessary with a Macbook. The second part is gold, tho. "I have never really used Apple's multi-touch interface, but it must suck because my Windows notebook's touchpad sucked big time!"

I'm pretty sure the casual gamers can either live with the games ported to OS X or get hold of a copy of windows (which everyone has laying around somewhere). Again, if you're talking about the IT-Nerds and hardcore gamers, you might want to check up the definition of most, as in 'most students'.

Mac and WIndows users alike should be thanking Apple for making great products and becoming a real threat to Microsoft in the OS department. Apple's pricing their products more competitively and Microsoft is showing that they're capable of great products as well when pushed by fierce competition, be it Sony or Apple. The consumer benefits and should be happy instead of nerdraging like that Dover weirdo and the other dweebs that are catching feelings because of an ad.

I agree about the competition - it's always a good thing and I am happy for it.
Still, I always hold a dislike for any sort of ad that tries to promote itself by bashing its competitors. (*coughelectionscough*)
