My dad told me about it.
My heart goes out to those soldiers wounded/killed and their families.

Quote:

A law enforcement official identified the shooting suspect as Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan. The official said Hasan, believed to be in his late 30s, was killed after opening fire at the base. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

A defense official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said Hasan was a mental health professional — an Army psychologist or psychiatrist. Officials say it was not clear what Hasan's religion was, but investigators are trying to determine if Hasan was his birth name or if he may have changed his name and converted to Islam at some point.

Ugh. If it gets around that he might even REMOTELY be Muslim, up in flames goes every fucking Muslim related thing (again...).

An English broadsheet and a tabloid identified him as being Muslim this morning.
I've read conflicting reports about the type of weapon used though. One source said he had an Uzi, while in the paper it said Two hand guns.
Alos, the source in Nikkki's post says he was shot dead, but in the paper I read today, it confirms him as being alive in a stable condition in hospital.

Yeah, the base commander did a press conference later on where his story had changed.

I'm happy he's alive, because it will let the authorities determine his cause, and whether it was something psychological like PTSD, or something much more sinister.

I'm probably wrong but I think there was more than one shooter.
Either that or they originally had their info wrong, I don't know.

My parents told me they THOUGHT they shot him dead (5 bullets hit him) but they found out he survived and they took him into custody.

So far all that's been released is that he is Muslim, after 9/11 he began reconsidering his military career choice after being continually taunted by fellow soldiers.

I don't know about America, but in all the news papers and other media such as the news, magazine, radio etc, in Britain, we're bombarded with information about home-grown terrorists.
People that have converted to Islam, or young Muslims that have been born in this country, and yet still been recruited and gone to terrorist training camps. Only the other day there was a whole page dedicated to how Mohummed is now the Second most popular name to give a new born child in this country...
Topics like that are common, hearing about some Muslims protesting the soldier marches and calling them baby killers...
Info about the illegal immigrants flooding in.
Honestly, it's a daily event.

Yet, they wonder why so many people voted for the BNP. It's totally unacceptable for me to be worried about Muslims and fear they are terrorists, yet I was 150 feet away from when they fuckers blew up a Train at Liverpool street station.

The media in my country give a very mixed message, it's confusing. It's like they try to make you think 'those darn Muslim fuckers', yet if you do say that, you're a bad person.

Why are they still referring to him as the "suspected" gunman? He looked people right in the eye as he shot them, many of which lived and identified him, I'd say he is more than just a "suspect" ?

I'm surprised too, I'd figure they'd be happy to brandish a Muslim a cold hearted killer as much as they possibly can here.
