From what I've experience Asus boards have horrible quality control. You need to RMA the board a few times till you get a working one but after that they're usually decent.

I'm tired of people spreading bullshit like this. Asus is the largest motherboard manufacturer in the world of course there are going to be some bad boards out there, but saying you had to RMA the board a few times is a load of crap or you don't know how to handle/install a motherboard properly. I have built every computer I have ever owned with an Asus motherboard, the Gateway FX laptop I have has an Asus motherboard in it. Asus boards are the most powerful for the money. I don't want to get this construed as, "Oh, he says Asus boards are the best." No I know that some boards may be better by the numbers but I'm tired of this bullshit being spread around that Asus makes an inferior product. Don't bother linking someones opinionated blog because I don't give a damn what some person that considers them self an expert because they bought some 5.95 10GB of bandwidth hosting from GoDaddy.com.

I never even heard of that until now. I thought it was stupid as soon as I saw it. But then, I heard the price tag. Holy fuck, talk about a waste of money! It will take you 5000 hours to type a single sentence.

100% agreed. You probably bought an Asus NVIDIA mobo! IF that's the case, then yeah no shit they sucked. The sucked for XFX, EVGA, ASUS and anyone else that made them. ASUS boards with intel chipsets are rock solid.

tbh it was my dad that kept getting crap boards (or him not handling it well but that is something i doubt that since he is pretty much a perfectionist).

Of the 4 Asus boards I had, only one is surviving today, and that is a nForce 1 motherboard (the A7N266-c). The rest died micarulesly after the warranty period. In the warranty periode they got send RMA a coupe of times.
I am apparently incapable of installing Asus motherboards, as that is apparently much harder than installing Gigabyte motherboards... Those keep on working, I even have one in my server (a normal desktop motherboard mind you!) which is running straight for 2,5 year now. None of my Asus boards made that, not without RMA.
