NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS. I used that card for about two years.
I replaced it a few months after C&C3 was released, however that card is capable of running C&C3 at Ultrahigh settings with a smooth frame rate.
That was the last AGP card I bought. From there on I stuck with PCI-e. I bought an 8800GT that didn't work with my mobo (waste of money) then I got a 9600. Then replaced that with a 9800 a few months later. I still use the 9800.
But going back on topic. The GeForce 7800 GS is probably the best NVIDIA AGP card.

Instead of just making another topic I'm going to ask this here, this question is for the same about the same computer though.
This computer keeps freezing and flickering off and on whenever I try to do something heavy on the video card. I've replaced the video card with one I just bought today for $30 to see if it was the video card, I don't think it is. It's not the power supply(250w), I think it has more than enough power for this new/old video card(ATI 92LE 128MB), it's not overheating the side is off all the time while I'm testing this.
Any ideas? I'm just trying to fix this computer to be used as a secondary computer not a gaming computer(anymore).
PS. Oh and this thread should probably be moved to the "Other" subforum, I posted it in the wrong forum by accident.

Have you switched the PSU with something newer, or of higher wattage? If you can, try and borrow a buddy's and just see if the system is stable afterward; it'll at least help to eliminate a variable.

If you did, did you run it for more than just a couple of passes? (let it run for an hour of 4 minimum).
If you haven't, download and burn to CD, and et it run for at least 4 hours.
If you get errors then your RAM is BORKED.

Yep, give prime 95 a shot too, if it returns any errors there's a problem.

I would go for OCCT personally, but I suppose that prime stress test works as well. (It does support multicore now doesn't it?)

Yes, runs 8 threads on my i7. Personally I've always used it. Folding at home requires about 0.01v more than prime to run stable though. I have used OCCT before as well, all good programs.

| Woah, dude, that had to stink. I really hope that 9800 is a GTX or higher. Otherwise, if it's just the GT, that really meant you were going from a decent card, to one weaker (albeit only slightly), back to one equal to what didn't work to begin with. Three cards and you go nowhere from the first. The 9800GT is the 8800GT (okay, +1% since it's clocked a bit higher, but it's the same darn card renamed).

This is something I posted on n00bstories a while ago. Just a little food for thought when looking for a new vid card.
luv2pb wrote on Fri, 04 September 2009 20:57 | an FYI for anyone who cares ...
(I meant to post this a while ago but never took the time to do so)
For years I have been a loyal XFX video card buyer. Mainly because they are competitively priced and also because the boast a double life time warranty.
Right before n00bparty '09 my 8800 took a crap after nearly 1.5 years of operation. I didn't really want to drop the cash for a replacement at that time. So I decided to see if the warranty was really what they claimed. They approved the claim within an hour of me sending it in (electronically) and sent me an address to ship it to along with two short pdf forms to fill out. So I filled the forms out ran over to fedex and shipped it out (cost me like $12). They sent me a notification when it arrived (4 days standard ship) that they received it. Next day they confirmed if was bad and sent me the tracking number for the new card. About 4 days later I received my replacement card which has worked fine since.
So for anyone looking for their next video card upgrade I highly recommend XFX brand.
tl:dr XFX video card warranty is legit.
