That is a ruling the mods/admins have made here... resulting in a 6 month ban for kill, then they said that was just an example... the next person to release this type of material will get a perma ban.

The renegade forums user known under the nickname "kill" has been banned for a period of 6 months for releasing a file that we have multiple times specified as being considered as a cheat. This means until the 18th of April 2010.

Each time he tries to bypass this ban, we will add an extra period of one month to his ban period.

I'm setting this as an example. We warned multiple times that we will not accept this release. If anyone else would like to do the same, they'll get a permanent ban as this warning should be very clear to everyone.

I also want to express my disappointment towards jnz who made this possible. It's not because you found a girlfriend and stopped caring about Renegade that you should spread source code without thinking. It shows a lack of respect towards a lot of people in this community.

It is considered an advantage because if you pay attention you know the second a building loses health, without having to constantly hit K, and when you hit K it covers your whole screen... could get you killed. Some other reasons also I am sure.

Admin policy is that any release cannot be allowed, because any release will be an alteration of Shaders.dll and/or Scripts.dll and therefore MUST be accompanied by source code (The "Stay free or die" clause of the GNU GPL, under which those DLLs are released), which can then be easily modified to NOT be as rule abiding as the original release.

(Also, Chew has a point)

Yes or No?

The only guy who will get the Source will be Reborn (he would get it from mrackz)

Are you publicly releasing it?

If you answer yes, "any release will be an alteration of Shaders.dll and/or Scripts.dll and therefore MUST be accompanied by source code (The "Stay free or die" clause of the GNU GPL, under which those DLLs are released)"...

Then it would prolly be removed because, "which can then be easily modified to NOT be as rule abiding as the original release"...

If you plan to just give it to reborn, then there is no need to ask. Just wouldn't say anything publicly, as your PM's will prolly get disabled (if they haven't already, lol).

I dont have the Source, mrackz did code it he planned to release the HUD without the Source because it shows how to create Counters (for Characters and more) Health of Enemy stuff and more. If you want it to be released with source then it should get approved by the Administration.

And my PM Box looks like this:

I am nearly positive the admins would not approve of such a release... With or without source.

SeriousCat permanently banned for ban evading. Aka Mrackz, who was banned for trying and failing to DDOS renforums .

Somehow you made it extremely easy for us, Mrackz. Same ISP, same writing style, same advantage HUD, referring to Mrackz yourself, ... Now please don't tell me you're his brother / best friend / cousin / goldfish...

The release is not allowed because of the two reasons explained above:
1. it's a considerable advantage, even if you only have it enabled for your team.
2. you need to release the source code which would make it easy like hell to expand the modification to display the enemy team's building bars, providing you with the same advantage for enemy buildings.

While I appreciate the endorsement of trustworthyness, "releasing" the source code to me alone does not satisfy the license agreement, it has to be a public release. I'm not entirely sure why anyone would think that to be honest, I don't have anything to do with the license agreement other than being someone else who has to abide by it. I'm not the license creator, holder etc etc.

People need to realise that the building bars are a cheat, and quite often they are not limited to only the building bars, but also the harvester too (which does not show up pressing 'k').
Even if you do not consider the building bars a cheat, then please respect the fact that these HUD's can be so easily manipulated and exploited to create cheats with the source code (which as explained, has to be released with the .dll files).

People really need to be careful what they wish for.
Iterating through buildings is only a stones throw away from iterating through players and vehicles. Once you have got the players/vehicles gameobject you can tell how far away they are, there health, there ammo etc etc. Sound familar to anyone? We're talking ESP from a well known renegade cheat, only 'better'.

Not only that, get there object, and you can then very very easily create an aimbot. YAY! Custom aim bots for everyone! Soon you would have the aim bots flooding in, and they would end up being allot more sophisticated than the released version.
You would have map overlays with the positions of every single player in the game on your screen, being able to anticipate every rush, or the best route to take...
You would have no end up cheats made by people looking to increase there e-penis size.

Please do not see the people distributing the HUD's as some type of super renegade hero to be admired. They are not oppressed feedom fighters or saviours to the game...

Wake up people, for fucks sake!

Also, I do not appreciate making a post in the spam forum. I feel all dirty now. Sad
