If you ask me, I don't think any slasher movie should be called a horror movie, because they're not scary.
The true horror movies are the ones that leave the scary part to your mind, the ones where you don't actually see the villain, and if you do it's only a glimpse.
I, personally, have never seen The Ring, but I know the premise of it and I've only met one person who said they weren't scared by it. (and they might've been lying  )
To put it Penny Arcade style...
