although this is an innocent inquiry from what ive heard its most
likely to turn into a heated debate so ima put it here, but yeah
just wondering if anyone has any information on what happened,
kinda hard to get some facts with so many bias views flying around
can anyone elaborate on what happened :)

If any of that's true then I'd have to agree with the RAGEQUITTERs, but I can't honestly say since it's likely to be biased.

I found this a very interesting read, which I unfortunately can't really comment on because I only see one side of the story.
What worries me a tadbit is:

Also 200 € per month for a single server... For about 4-5 months of renting, you could surely purchase your own machine that can decently run the NS1 server and put it in a datacenter. How much bandwith does NS1 generate? More than 1,5 terra per month? In my own experience as server owner, 200 € per month just seems quite huge :-S.

If I used the PM system on your site to advertise n00bstories you would stop me to. Just like we did. Crimson feeling is simple. You are not going to use the bandwidth she pays for to make fail attempts at sabotage. Same went for here as well. It should be noted not a single n00bstories person has been banned as a result of this internal incident.
I didn't look at the link before I removed it but I assume it was the long ass one. I don't have the desire to go into great length. Simply because most people here really could care less.
The simple story breaks down like this. We fucked around at n00bparty on a 4 hour map of failglass to end it. Got a little carried away, yes, but nothing we saw as anything that was a big deal. Especially considering we were at the owners house and she has the right to decided what does and does not go. A mod who was upset about that was also smurfing (on a later map) and being a general jackass. As a result we griefed him back a little. This caused some RAGE and a resignation. We laughed. That resulted in a few others getting mad. So we simply said look. Were sorry you got mad we don't see it as a big deal blah blah blah. They took that apology and spit it in our face and proceeded to make it personal. At that point the RAGEQUITTING, screen shots and the PMing started. We decided the best course of action was to remove anyone who associated with them for the best interests for n00bstories. So we did. Now we have moved on and are operating like normal. Unless you were or currently a Renegade server moderator for n00bstories the situation does not effect you in any way.
I will let this go since so many have alrady seen it. I don't kow if it will stay that way.

We removed the images from the thread because they are posts from a private forum. We have a strict policy for all of our staff that messages posted in the private forums are to remain confidential. So, I protect them with the same fierceness that I would protect anyone else's privacy. That's why they have been removed.
For those of you who read the private conversations, you'll see that this whole thing started when an IRC log was posted of what appears to be some random player insulting everyone on his team and those of us at n00bparty (who were on that team) responded by giving each other !rec's and a few of us !n00b'ed the random tard as well. A couple of the mods overreacted to the situation with such ridiculous predictions that doing such a thing would make all of our players stop playing there. luv2pb and I felt that was a huge exaggeration and tried to get the conversation to end because we honestly couldn't believe such a big deal was being made over someone getting upset that they got !n00b'ed. Hell, we've all made fun of people whining about the !n00b command many times. It turned out, several posts and resignations later, that the random tard was actually that same moderator on a smurf nickname.
Then all of a sudden it became about everything else and a bunch of mods quit. luv2pb and I were still in the same room because he was the last to leave (he always stays an extra day after n00bparty so we get make plans for the site for the next year and basically take care of business) so we had a discussion about what the heck was going on. We decided to post an apology to everyone if they felt unappreciated because that's what we felt was their true beef. The hope was that the apology would show that we were committed to resolving the situation and that it would encourage them to calm down and start having a more productive conversation and hopefully find out what they were actually mad about. Those of you who are married understand this.
But instead, they spit in our faces, laughed at our apology, and continued to resign. So, we gave up on them and decided to let the chips fall where they may and move forward once the dust settled. And that's what we've done. We lost a few mods, some active, many not active, and now we're rewarding the loyalty of those who didn't lose their heads and moving forward.
However, NONE of that is the concern of anyone except the former and current moderating staff of n00bstories.com!

For anyone who has that thought right now we are not filling any spots. We decided after this that quality > quantity. We would rather have 10 good mods than 100 loud mods. We are working with those that are left and Crimson has made suggnificant improvmants to phprenbot to pick up the slack. We also have a surprise or two in the near future too.
Yesterday I played complex with 51 of my closest Renegade friends so anyone who does enjoy our server is still doing so.

the second one: "or was this the proverbial final straw because of a chain of incidents along a similar line" is kinda right, not fully though, but surely not what they think it happened (they keep saying that people got angry for just that n00bparty incident, which took place in just 1 map, and both aren't truths). Also, I must say that most people left because of their behavior when the first few mods left, which isn't completely reported in that page that's floating around I think.
And as raven said, inb4 deletion and ban, just like every other thread like this

I personally never considered to be moderating Crimson's forum when moderating renforums, though I know technically I am. I thought the whole idea of having renforums and n00bstories was so renforums could stay more or less open for the complete community, while n00bstories is Crimson's "private playgrounds" (no bad intentions with this wording).
