Hi,
I asked a guy for his reticle, and he sent me a .rar file. I think he sent me more than his reticle, but anyway. I dropped it in the Data folder as per usual and it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? I tried putting it in the config file, which didn't work either Smile

I'm pretty nooby at this stuff, so any help would be appreciated please.

First unzip the files in the .rar file and then put them in your data folder. They should work fine

You need WinRAR to open .rar files, you can find it here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm the one at the very top, install it and then just extract the files(most likely the files will be .dds) to your data folder.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I extracted the .rar file to the data folder, and the only new item there was hd_reticle.dds. No Hit file, and no Pic. ~_~

Is it possible for the ret to work without a pic in there? Could someone send me a hd reticle hit.dds file please? - Unless these files are unique and correspond to certain rets.

Thanks

Does not require the picture of it to work. That's simply a screenshot to show you what it'll look like, included by the author for courtesy. hd_reticle.dds is a special file that basically is the reticle. It's the only one that really matters. If I'm not mistaken, the hit file is that little targeting dot that appears inside your reticle.

yeah

Ok - So I have one question left - Why doesnt my reticle show up in game?

The hd_reticle.dds is in the data folder - but doesnt appear at all. Even renguard doesnt register that I have skins. You know how it says "Warning, skins have been detected on your client, you will not been able to join a pure server!"

Idk what the problem.

Ty for the help so far, I hope I can get this shit to work eventually.

Ok, I extracted the hd_reticle.dds file to my normal renegade data folder, tested it on Multiplayer practice and it worked.

However when I try to run it on Command and Conquer the First Decade Renegade Version, it doesnt work. O_o

The differences between the two is that my normal renegade (which I have just reinstalled) is not patched and does not have Renguard running when I use it.

C&CTFD does have the latest patch and does have Renguard. Why it doesnt work is beyond me. I've extracted the hd_reticle.dds file to the data folder the same way for both.

I guess Ill just patch normal rene and play off it.

Btw, anyone know how to transfer the patch over to Normal renegade without downloading it again?

Ty for all help

I hope you didn't patch TFD version of Renegade, it's already patched, patching it again screws it up.

Indeed I did, and yes it screwed up, big time. When I eventually got it all working again without reinstalling, the XWIS login Message told me my serial key was invalid -GG. But got some program that I found off a forum which was used by people who had the same problem 3 years ago. All good now.

Btw, my serial key was legit, just repatching stuffed everything up

Ok, for The First Decade, you need to put the hd_reticle.dds here :
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade(tm)\Renegade\Data\

Have fun Big Ups
