A temporary ban is giving them another chance. How is it not? Just because it's known that they'll be let back in doesn't change that it's a second chance. It's saying, "you're being given a second chance after you take a fucking chill pill."

Besides, fuck second chances. If you're willfully being a jackass, what makes you think you deserve a second chance? In the case of Heavy, he was given second chances because he was more ignorant of what he was doing than what troop did. To an extent, he deserved them. Troop, he consciously did his antics knowing full well what reactions he would get. Rehabilitated or not, I still don't want a person like that around, period.

Trooprm ought to be unbanned, and here is why.

I have no particular opinion on whether he should be, but after reading some of the posts suggesting he should play me 1v1, an idea struck me. How about if he beats me 1v1, we unban him?

I know it is quite strange that a 1v1 chooses whether a person is banned from a forum or not, but in this case we just want to shut up the endless whingeing about "1v1 nP???!" and so on. I never really was involved with that - it wasn't me who wanted the 1v1 in the first place - but hey. Goztow agreed to the proposition, probably on a whim.

We did it the usual clanwars.cc way - two games on Field, once as GDI and once as Nod, with the following conditions:
- if one player wins both games, he wins the contest
- if one player wins 1 game by basekill and the other wins 1 game by points, the basekiller wins the contest
- if both players win 1 game by basekill, the person who achieved basekill faster wins the contest
- if both players win 1 game by points, the person who won by a higher point margin wins the contest

This is typically the way we do 1v1 tournaments and so on... the general opinion among players who play 1v1s is that Field is the most skilful map for the purpose, so long as you play both sides.

Game One: Spoony (GDI), Trooprm02 (Nod)
I won by about 2200 points.
Game Two: Spoony (Nod), Trooprm02 (GDI)
Trooprm02 won by 2700 points. Credit to the guy, he outplayed me and I wasn't expecting it.

So, I guess he'll be unbanned shortly, and I think I'm about to receive a great deal of abuse.

April Fool, by the way. I know it's a little late in the day, but I have been in hospital all day having arthroscopy of the knee.

fuck that, why would we unban him because he beat you 1v1...no one agreed to that, there are 20 more votes to keep him banned than there are to unban him...what was the point of this poll then
