If any of you have any cheats I didn't mention, PM me. Actually most of them will be stopped as a result of this program coming out, but it doesn't hurt to check.

I'm the bawss.

What can we do to stop the cheaters?

A program is being created, a collaborative effort between mac, Jonathan Wilson, Olaf Van Der Spek, and Greg Underwood (Codewench, formerly of Westwood). This program will run on the server and the client. Players who want to play on cheat-free servers will have to install a small program which checks for known and unknown cheats or else you'll be unceremoniously booted and blacklisted.

*cough* PunkBuster *cough*

How specific will this tool be, though?

If you want to prevent every level of cheat, that would include skins (lame stealth skins), so are you just going to dismiss skin exploits?

After all, it would be nearly impossible to create a program that can recognize any stealth skin from a stealth skin being used as an exploit.

It is not that we laughed. It is we were trying to slow down and prevent interest in the cheats that n00bs try and look for. I knew of a big head cheat along time ago. The problem with it was, that from the side the head dissapeared.

As much as I hate cheater skins, I think they should leave them alone. Blocking those could kill the mod community.

*Slightly Sobbing* NO!!!!!! Those n00bs will pay for what they did. Now I can add more cheats to my site LOL JK (Not actual cheats, but just take the aimbot thing on my site for example, when you press the download thing, You are an idiot HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. LOL I love that you are an idiot thing.) I hope this tool ets finished soon, and I also hope that the pitts uses it. I gonna do a google search on these cheats, then I will give you the E-mails of the ppl who host these, if I can find them, because then we can spam their e-mail.

The tool would center around approved skins, so the modding community will not suffer.

We'll give more info once the specifics are finalized... I'm just the messenger Smile

Can you clarify a bit what an "approved" skin is? Taskbot7 and I have skinned a lot of the infantry and vehicles in the game with our own personal character models, and I'd hate to not be able to use any of them just to be able to play the game now...

Bleh...I hope by approved you mean "skins that meet certain requirements" and not "skins that have to be submitted and approved by mods before they can be used"...

The skin requirements would be VERY loose I imagine. I don't see any reason to punish you guys for others mis-doings.

But thanks for bringing up your concerns... as much as I am able, I'll make sure they're heard.

Wish I could contribute, its such a shame to see cheats come to this game. Excellent ideas placed forward though. A cheat I saw quite sometime back was a stealth black hand who appeared to have a gdi logo on them. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, it's really sad.

I'm sorry but anyone who needs to cheat in Renegade really sucks at FPS games in general.

I always found it easy to aim and keep my crosshairs on an enemy target even in the thick of the action. I can't understand why people have such dificulty with that...

Takes another bottle of beer out from under the desk. There is a problem though. We have all seen what happens with some servers that run fan maps.
The new map comes up and out of 16+ people there are only 3 or 4 left and it stays that way because most of the lazy fuckwitts didn’t bother to download any of them.

What I'm trying to say is, how are you going to sell this to the larger and some what ignorant community
?
