As we all kno life isnt simple but if someone could help me again. Ive installed rengaurd core patch 2 etc, except whenever i go online and click advanced games listings, a box appear saying a new version of renegade is available. Now ive downloaded this about 4 times, each one taking different times, then it says restart but yet again it says it again when i click advanced game listings next.
Any one have any ideas what is going wrong ???? please help i havent played this game for about 4 years and NEED to play it again

and now ive installed scripts 3 and ive got the black screen. ive tried downloading all the latest direct x software from download.com, but i still have the black screen, could it be to do with vista or is there a direct x for vista only??? , soz 2 be a pain in the ass but i realy want to play renegade
if anyone can answer my two questions above that would be v helpfull. however im hoping by installing scripts 3 manually ive answered my own 1st question but thanks to the black screen i cant even find out!!!!!!!!!

When is your black screen happening? Can you see the menu?
If you can't, reinstall scripts 3.4.4 with the installer. It handles any problems with DirectX you may have and generally gets you produces a working install of Renegade

i did instal via goztows post however his links to direct 9x dont work , so ive downloaded everything that came up in download.com to do with direct x when i searched direct x9 and still have black screen.
:EDIT NOTE:: ive reinstalled the scripts and now it work , . but my original problem still now persists. when i click advanced game list it keeps saying a new version of renegade is available, when i download it restarts and then says the same thing again any ideas?::EDIT NOTE:
