yuri's revenge [message #365534]

Recruit

I have 2 pcs. a xp and a vista

when i installed yuri's revenge to my xp
it says "yuri's revenge has encountered a problem and needs to close" i even tried 'compatability mode' but no success

when i installed it on my vista, it says "FATAL ERROR string manager failed to initialize" and i also tried 'compatability mode'

i finally tried to play yuri's revenge on my friend's pc, its an xp. it also says "yuri's revenge has encountered a problem and needs to close"

the strange part is that, red alert 2 works perfectly fine on both of my pcs and my friend's; even without 'compatability mode'

i have no mods or rules.ini and i have all the latest patches

Well i made a post about it long while ago. Maybe i can dig it up for you.

On VISTA it has to do with running as admin. Inside TFD folder goto the red alert exe's properties and select "Always run as admin"

If i can't find my other post i'll make a more detailed version if you need.

double click (open) game.exe -> select allow
double click (open) gamemd.exe -> select allow
double click (open) mph.exe -> select allow
double click (open) mphmd.exe -> select allow

Or just turn off User Account Control Smile

Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control On or Off

If this doesn't work you can always try to reïnstall. In some of the cases this works also.
For XP you would have to reïnstall anyway. Didn't found any other way to solve it on XP Huh
