If EA begins to patch Renegade again, they could regain the trust of the people they disappointed after the Westwood shutdown, therefore increasing sales of other games.

hmmm, i would agree.... it might be real, because, as stated in umbral, it is for money..... they could also use this as a.... well as a "starcraft".... what mean is,
"look everyone, renegade is 2 years old, the company that made it has closed down.... but were still patching it, and we intend to keep doing so....."
as to get peoples "trust" back like umbral said, and to also, make people belive they support old games still..... *could* be a big seller......

Hm...*sighed* good news and bad news are brought in at same time, huh? The good news is we're getting another patch! The bad news is, it's the final patch.  EA, I'm sure this community appreciate that you're patching the game again, but please, continue supporting it. Don't just leave the game alone because it can't make you more money.
Anyway, we appreciate that you have finally announced like this. I hope it's true

I'm actually paranoid and...scared of "EA" patching Renegade. I mean...the original team behind Renegade is gone...aren't they? Westwood is no more, and look how EA has been dealing with Generals... I fear the worst--that EA's new patch for Renegade actually screws up the game!  :-\
I think Renegade is fine and needs no patching AFAIK...if it does could someone please enlighten me?
Volcano_Flying does sound like a spectacular idea though.

Agreed. Even if there's a chance (which I don't believe there is) that EA would patch Renegade, I'd rather they just left it alone "If it's not broke, don't fix it". Not to say that's it's perfect, but no game ever will be.

get off the horse, this guy is obviously not Mark Skaggs who had NOTHING to do with Renegade in the past or the present... let alone to be announcing this on this forum.
Mark Skaggs = the Executive In Charge of Production on the RTS genre at EALA.
Renegade <> RTS; Renegade == FPS

The ladder last summer got screwed up when they were using the base beacon fix. Two versions screw it up i think. Probably fake though

Yeah, I was of course willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but it was a VERY small doubt. Anything coming as an announcement is generally leaked to some community members first, and none of us heard a thing.

Kinda like when EA will shut down the rene servers and force everybody to use GaySpy. Bet thats gonna suck.
BTW, diddn't somebody have to threaten legal action last time to get them to fix the ladders?
Hoestly, EA sucks fat donkey wang. Look at Blizzard, they still patch games like StarCraft after all this time. And yet Ea abandons games in about a year. Anybody have Earth&Beyond? Whats going on there? Plenty of neglect to go around?

I thought about this and got the assumption that this post is indeed fake. I looked at his first post. Why would he say welcome to Renegade? We've been with the game ever since it came out, we're not new to it. Now I know it's fake. :rolleyes:

Another reason you can tell that this is a fake is because the author is doing everything he can think of to INDICATE that he is in fact an EA employee, where a real EA employee would do nothing of the sort.
Indication is a common problem for people who are just learning the craft of acting (or going on the radio). When you indicate, it comes off fake, and the bullshit meter goes up. It reminds everyone that you are, in fact, acting.
