I'm actually paranoid and...scared of "EA" patching Renegade. I mean...the original team behind Renegade is gone...aren't they? Westwood is no more, and look how EA has been dealing with Generals... I fear the worst--that EA's new patch for Renegade actually screws up the game! Sad :-\

I think Renegade is fine and needs no patching AFAIK...if it does could someone please enlighten me?

Volcano_Flying does sound like a spectacular idea though.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd want EA changing the balance of the game either.

In my opinion, the only changes that should be made to the game are bug fixes, like your pistol being loaded by default, Techs getting 6 mines when they start, netcode optimization, etc... any new features should be non-balance issues like mine counters.

Of course new maps could be released as well, even introducing new game modes like Deathmatch and a working CTF (without base destruction)...

I doubt this is true. Probably just a hoax... But, I could be wrong.

Agree, Probably hoax but we'll see.

I doubt, though, that there are (m)any maps left that have not been transferred to Aircraftkiller, and as such I doubt EA would devote much - if any - time to creating new ones.

I would of course support new maps, as long as they didn't have any drawbacks, such as major, unfixed bugs or something of the like.

For some reason, something that always stuck in my head from a long time ago was Devinoch telling the community of his idea for a map, and how he was going to try and have the map team make it and patch it in...

I still remember the premise of the map, too...C&C_Crater, it took place inside a Tiberium crater, with a Mutant Lab in the middle.

Strange, the things that I remember, eh? Razz

There is a possibility that this could be a hoax, but it could be that EA has seen that people were truly pised that EA shut down Westwood, and that many people are still playing Renegade, a game that was launched nearly two years ago and STILL going strong.

If EA begins to patch Renegade again, they could regain the trust of the people they disappointed after the Westwood shutdown, therefore increasing sales of other games.

It is more than likely that EA WILL produce Tiberium Twilight, or probably IS producing it as we speak, since the Westwood community is in fact quite large. Large community equals great profits.

In layman terms, it's all about money. As I said before, this COULD be either a hoax, or an attempt to bring faith back to the Westwood community. If it is the latter, they are going to have to do some damn good patching to make up for the shutdown.

But hey, that's just my opinion! Razz

Wow. And I thought Renegade was finished with patches. Good news definitely.

What's a Tank Supplier feature? What's it do?

new maps would be great if they were offical maps. I think mostly they should make complex, islands and maybe volcano flying..that would be cool. The whole thing about this "patch" that I was looking forward too was the ladder working again. I think it was one of my clan mates soul who said that last time a patch came out the ladder went down for a while...

if these new "official" maps are anything like glacier than it won't be much of an update

but this is a hoax, look at his sig, westwood.com ? Why would you list the obsolete website of a non-existing dev house in your sig if you work for EA?

whatever, hopefully halo has good clan support...

This game had the potential to take off. Mabey EA realized this and are starting to pay attention to this fact. But I'm still on a 50/50 tilt that this may be true or that this may be false. Only time will tell right now.

Or ACK or Dante will tell too. Wink

I would just like the rankings to be fixed, or at least updated once a month. I know alot of you are anti-rankings, but imo they are fun to compare with friends to show who did what in a particular game. I know it doesnt show all it should but I still think they are fun, and adds competivness to games where you have a bunch of friends playing at once. I am not talking about point whoring, and being number one overall, I could care less what you are ranked, I am talking about kills/deaths, wins/loses, vehicals destroyed, and buildings. So the rankings are a big reason I still play this game, but since they have stopped working a couple weeks ago, my friends and I have also slowed way down on playing as much too. We were hoping they would have just reset this month but they didnt. Sad

Both his post and his profile seem OK, except for the email adress provided, "westwood4ever@hotmail.com". I say 20% chance it's really him.

This is so obviously a fake announcement.

1. He would not have a hotmail.com email address FFS.
2. He would have made a followup post by now
3. I really doubt they have a team working on Renegade, considering WOL rankings are not even working currently.

Yes, this is the one and only Mark Skaggs.

That bit leaves me overly skeptical, aside from the fact that I doubt Renegade will receive official support again.
