In Renegade, the Ramjet is supposed to be a better version of the .50 CalibEr rifles that Barrett makes.
Also yeah NukeIt pretty much got it. .50 ammo is super expensive and super huge, and not very practical for non military uses.
Me? M4 chambered in Remington 6.8 (essentially the Barrett M468-REC7) and an M14 in 7.62 is all I would ever want. Aside from maybe a Mosin Nagant, but that's another story.

As Canadacdn pointed out, you can shoot it while running and standing up. Try doing that with a .50 cal rifle. Let's not forget you can shoot lightly armed opposition in the foot and kill them.

So can real weapons actually, the shock of the bullet entering at such high velocity forces can cause heart failure due to the blood being forced back towards the heart by the shock... or something along those lines anyway, I don't remember fully, but it's called hydrostatic shock.

That's a hit-and-miss effect, though, and depends on both the sensitivity of a person's nervous system and the condition of their cardiovascular system. Different people react very differently to getting shot; while one person might get shot in the leg and immediately go into shock, another might take two in the torso and be able to get right back up again. The physical damage caused at the wound site will be the same given identical bullets from identical weapons, but any other effects will be different from casualty to casualty.

I can see where you are all coming at though if you were to take the Ramjet into the real world, could you still run and shoot at the same time? Or are you bound to take cover and remain hidden?
Nobody can tell for sure, heavy modifications to the .50 could have been made for you to adapt for run and gun purposes but considering every action has an equal and opposite reaction, to fire it as far and fast as you can in Renegade you'd need quite the sturdy upper torso keeping you stationary at the time you fire the bullet to prevent a miss and any injuries that may be caused by the gun itself from recoil lol!

Correction: you'd need to be just shy of GOD to keep that gun in battery and fire it while on the move. Most .50 rifles weigh easily as much as a small child, which you've got to hold straight out from your shoulder to take a shot. Because you've got to compensate for this massive freaking leadslinger which is throwing off your center of gravity, you need to lean backwards to maintain your balance... and the recoil alone is powerful enough to knock a weak or inexperienced shooter flat on their ass.
I'm not aware of anyone who can accurately and precisely fire those things from a kneeling position, let alone standing up, and forget running and shooting simultaneously. The thought of jumping and shooting is absolutely fucking hilarious; you can't even do that with medium calibers without going ass over teakettle, and I've yet to even hear about anyone who can jump-shoot any firearm and reasonably expect to hit anything. Bunny Hopping 'snipers' make Sir Isaac Newton cry.
