There's no point to overclocking. The risks FAR outway the benefits. It's more of a nerdy bragging rights thing. Unless you go all out your not going to get much of a performance game at all. I don't know about you guys but I don't walk around in games going, "wow this is running really smooth. Look at the blood spewing out of that guy over there having fun..."
Just play games. Who cares about these minimal performance gains? I'd rather be able to use my computer longer. When I'm playing I could care less about the image quality. That's why I still play renegade.

I very much dissagree with you. Though, yes, some do it simply to see how high they can actually go you can save a lot of money and gain a noticable difference in performance. My 2.4 quad runs at 3.0 ... I notice a difference when I'm hitting the top of one core. When I'm maxin out all four cores the difference is stupid.
There is little risk so long as you do two things. Stay within your CPUs tolorance and keep it cool. A lot of times (like in my case) that requires an after market heatsink/fan. I should take a pic of mine and post it.

lol, Lets see i get like 20 bucks every other week, which since xmass is coming up goes on gifts other then that i have to use my own money for haircuts,bus, etc etc untill i can find a job but without a car and there not hiring for another 10 miles idk wat to do but wait and my mom takes care of my 6 year old niece and goes to school and works till nite and also does everything else, clean buy food ect ect so we dont have much money so ya....rather vid card....or xbox 360...so ya

Well overclocking your hardrive does have a plus side to it having a faster read and seek speed is great, thought you will probably end up frying it in a few days or a week depending on how much you use your computer. Your best bet would be a Solid State hardrive because they are just about the fastest hardrives around, thought they are limited in sized and capacity, you should only use it along side an external hardrive for example having a 20G.B. solid state hardrive and a 300G.B. external hardrive can benefit you in the long run by enabling to use your computer in a more faster and efficient way by not having to wait for the hardrive to spin up because it is Solid State but in terms of storing files you would use the external hardrive.
