On City_flying a few days ago, I was a technician out on the field when a few GDI tanks went after our group of stealth tanks. I gave some repair support, and when it looked like we were falling back, I started repairing thin air hoping to fool the more distant GDI tanks into thinking there was a stealth tank in front of me. A few people fired at me, but I couldn't tell if the distraction helped at all--maybe they were just shooting at me with no regard for my perhaps lame decoy efforts.

Has anyone tried this, and does it help (the stanks, that is--I expected to draw fire for my efforts)?

when you repair stanks they give off the same shimmer as if you had hit close to them. they probably fired at you to deter the stanks from getting close to you or to just plain kill you.

Actually I have found that repairing stanks does NOT make them shimmer. But it does look pretty suspicious

thats a very gay trick and its not really gonna delay the meds. what? do you think they're stupid enough just to sit there the whole game shooting at the end of ur repair gun shots? I don't think so. Laughing

Mess with the best, die like the rest. Till all are one.

It's true - they don't shimmer while being repaired. I saw an Engineer doing it to an enemy Stealth. I was in my Medium and saw the Engineer shooting his repair gun at what seemed to be nothing, so I fired a round and made a hit.

It CAN work. I've seen it happen. Most of the time it's just someone running and firing the repair gun at nothing for some reason - see "Blue Beam of Death" thread for posible explanation...? And someone will start shooting to try and land a hit. Sometimes there's a tank there, sometimes not. It's one of those tricks you have to use when the moment is right.
