On Vista:
Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
Click on "Manage Wireless connections" and remove any networks that you no longer want (including the one you're trying to connect to, you have to change it's type...)

Start > Connect To. Windows will state it can't find any wireless networks (because you disabled SSID broadcast) so you have to click on "Setup new connection" or whatever it is at the bottom that lets you make a new connection, from the connection types menu, choose wireless AP / Router (NOT the "Ad hoc" one) and then enter the SSID, Passkey and set the encryption type. Click "Save" or whatever, and then see what happens.

hey the setting that you said so i can find my network (since SSID broadcast is off)does not show up.....my and my mom haver the SAME computer both bought at pretty much same time and iv done it on hers but its not showing up on mine idk if its the services i disabled or stuff i took off but cant seem to find it
