Why so "cheap"? Dude, we've been telling you that HDDs are NOT expensive, anymore. With the whole introduction of solid state drives, the prices of IDE and SATA drives is incredibly low. I'm sure if you looked hard enough, you could find a 750GB HDD and a drive enclosure to make your own external HDD for less than that $95.

whoa.

NewEgg has reviews on there for a reason... you should probably read them.

The problem I saw just from looking at the first page of reviews is that it lacks an on/off switch. If that's not a big deal to you, then I'd say that drive looks pretty good.

whoa.

I've got 3 external HDD's, one 250 gb Seagate, one 500 GB Western Digital, and one 750 GB Maxtor, and none have on/off switches, which works fine for me. Just unplug and auto shutoff. All 3 work perfectly as far as I can tell (cept the first Maxtor I got fried on the 2nd day, lost a ton of HiDef movies, but new one works fine).

Reviews seem to indicate reliability, which is really what your main concern should be when looking for a hdd. I'd also recommend Western Digital, since they are a well known company who do make reliable drives. (My WD is still running fine even after several months at full capacity (not that amount on the drive makes a difference)).

If you don't want EA to get any credit, destroy their Refinery. Duh.

Maxtor had bad series. But I think that counts for any big product.
Just look up on reviews. I always had Western Digital. Till the comparable Hitachi got tested out better in the review and was cheaper.. runs like a charm.
There is difference in Warranty though, some give 5 years and some 3. Maybe something to take in account.

I can send you a SATA 120gb HD for free, with the SATA cable if it's any good to you (internal). However from the UK to the USA is a bit of an issue, you may have to pay an import tax your end, and I would need the shipping cost reimbursed. So you may be better off buying a new one anyway..

PS, you're not thinking of installing your operating system on that are you?

Why don't you just buy the cheapest one you can find on wall mart? I mean: you don't have much money and even those cheap ones can keep going for several years... I suppose you don't really need a terra of disk space, either.
