It's another part of a combination in randomising your movements to make you a harder target to hit when in battle. Movements include, moving left and right, crouching, jumping + moving left right while doing these, and.....shift walking. Shift walk is just another movement. The thing about shift walk is it makes it somewhat easier to aim as u move slower. Personally I hate shifters myself because they are hard to predict, making them hard to hit yet they kill me so easy.
Also Just on a note I don't really shift myself because I never got into the habit, but I am seeing more and more people do it lately on the sniper servers, it might be the next new sniper craze (the current obsession is hugging I find)
The only flaw is that one is accused of cheating because holding the shift key I heard activates a variation of an aimbot, perhaps why some of them kill me so easy. However wouldn't the community have already found ways to pick up this aimbot? So why is shift walking so forbidden?
The question is that I wouldn't mind finally learning to use my pinky cuz I always avoided it but I have heard people get banned from servers for shift walking, not necessarily being thoroughly tested and confirmed cheating. What are people's opinions on this somewhat taboo subject in Rene world?

shift is the default key used for a well know cheat... this cheat is hard to detect... so when people walk some might say they are walking so they can use the cheat.
Jamie is a guys name in Europe...

I think some people genuinely use shift as a way to slow down and mess up the aim of the enemies and be able to get a good shot in without standing still. It's also becoming a very good excuse for whoever gets killed to dish out numerous cheating accusations as well.

Hehe interesting.
Contraversy point that I want to discuss:
Say that I frap sum1 and catch him using the shift button. that video would be in some cases I believe enough to get someone banned. You can get away with it on sniper servers but in a kiddys server like UNRULES, a video of a person using the shift key (though not nessacerily cheating) would get that person banned.
Isnt this a cause for concern? I think so....

UNRules are fags...so yeah. I saw someone got banned for...stealth hacks, because he shot a Stealth Tank that was...RIGHT IN FUCKING FRONT OF HIM. The guy in the stealth tank was a mod so...lol.

I crouch alot, I find it helps abit to get in that good shot, as well as mess up the other person's aiming because most aim at the head.

Aside from looking awesome, there no reason that I can think of to use the shift key when you can use the crouch key.
Rapidly pressing x,c and shift keys plus random movements is sure to annoy snipers.

It's easier to dodge -and- aim when ducking, walking, or jumping  .
In that video:
- He is shotting at the person's pattern.
- It's easier to pattern aim when moving slow. (Your target spot remaind remotely the same position)
Nothing of interest in the video 
and this is an old topic...
maybe some people will learn a few things from it
