All I have is a simple orca skin just recolored.
I have made/used orca skins before and they worked, but now for some reason they just show up as normal orcas.
All my other skins (like 190+) are still working.
Also I don't know what this counts for, but I have an orca flame skin that is still working.
Here is a orca skin file that I made real quick to test, maybe somebody else could catch what I might have missed.

I am pretty sure I used the right settings seeing how I have made A LOT of skins (including orca skins that worked).
I even dug up old orca skins that I made to see if they would work again but they of course did not.
Also I just reinstalled Renegade the other day and that did not help either (apparently).
Plus I have made other skins lately that have worked.

my friends used to have this problem in a way (i remember 5 people telling me this) they would download skins and never worked ingame with or without rg dont know why maybe this is something like it?

It has nothing to do with the settings.
Renegade actually has three orca skins if I remember it correctly
always.dat
01_orca.dds
v_gdi_orca.dds
these ones are mostly used in flyovers and have transparant windows.
always2.dat (in here is the orca you need)
v_gdi_orca_m (sixe 512x512 dxt1)
Westwood made multiple orca's with a tiny changes. Same for the transport chopper. (if you want to retexture that it is in always2.dat)
Your skin was 256x256 I rezised it probably it is ugly but I suggest you remake your skin or if you like it how it is now ->

always.dat
01_orca.dds
v_gdi_orca.dds
always2.dat
v_gdi_orca_m.dds
There are 3 orca skins. The model that renegade uses for the orca that players can pilot is v_gdi_orca_m.w3d. Thus the skin you must edit is v_gdi_orca_m.dds and it is located in always2.dat
