Screw religion, it's the catalyst for bad stuff.

Ignorance is the catalyst for bad stuff....stop being ignorant.

That's why the Pope called the crusades because the Muslims were holding Jerusalem, and how Muslim Extremists groups are using the Koran to manipulate people into thinking suiciding bombing=right. Am I right?

Pope = Religion? lol

Just because people who have religious beliefs manipulate them to serve their own personal selfish desires doesn't mean the religion they manipulate is bad. I can make the counter argument that atheism is bad by saying that the Soviet (atheist state) discrimination and persecution of political and ethnic groups was because of atheism. Ignorance of others and human greed drive acts such as terrorism and illegitimate wars because every person holds desires to steal, to commit violent action onto someone, or to fear what is unknown or strange, blaming religion is not the source of the problem, but a distraction to the real purpose of the crime.

I see your point, but still, a lot of crap came from religious icons manipulating people into believing something.

sorry, where's the holy scripture of atheism which justified any of that? more to the point, what's the connection between that and an atheist?

it's not a valid comparison.

My point was that just because a person commits an act that is considered bad, one cannot call his religious (or lack thereof) beliefs bad as well(there are always exceptions of course, but I do not see one in this case). My comparison with the Soviet Union was that since they were an atheist state, and many of their inspirations for their political philosophy (communism) were indeed atheist, I could make the counter argument (with Sadukar's perceived logic) that atheism was the cause for the bad things in which the soviets did to their people. In my beliefs I do not think that atheism caused the soviet's and their leaders to persecute it's peoples. My argument clearly states it is because of human ignorance and greed that men and nations do these acts.

Yeah you're right, but religious icons and personalities are not religions. You are disliking the messenger because of how he is saying the message...not the message itself.

Religion plays a big part in this matter (of homosexuality) and it is in no way a distraction to the "real purpose of the crime."

I present a "squeaky clean image" because we have yet to get into specifics. I was only countering the notion that religion which I can only presume to be all since it is generalized is the "catalyst for bad stuff" which is simply not true. I was meaning no issue and no religion in particular, if you want to start a debate on Islam and homosexuality, great, but saying one religion is bad won't become a universal law for all religions.

I have never said and will never say that all religions are good. If you get that perception from me you are mistaken.

Sorry if you misunderstand when I say that homosexuality is not a crime, I am simply giving my opinion on the matter, nothing more.
