Do you HAVE to pay to run a server on Renegade i.e. Paying for a host to run it on. Or can you run it on your own internet connection free of charge, with no monthly, yearly, daily or even one-time fees?
And if this is possible would I be able to host many players with download speed of 6 mbps and upload speed of 4 mbps (system specifications don't matter as I would use another computer to play on the server)?

Lol I know that quite clearly by the title of the software it implies that it's free, but my friend kept nagging me saying that it's not, and that it'll cost money somehow.
Anyway thankyou for telling me that, I shall continue in creating my server now

Well I'm going to run the server on my Windows Vista computer 32-bit, 1 gb ram, 2.4 ghz single core processor.
I know it's a bit of a crappy computer but I'll probably only host about 4 - 6 people at a time on it so it should work fine. And if it doesn't work well I'll use my other computer to play the game on so this one's CPU is free.

That seems fine though you could probly use more ram, maybe it was 128MB for 30 players or 10? not sure though, and just to say 1GB ram with vista is computer lag heaven. Throw Vista out the window and get XP.
