The AK-47 is popular with the "bad guys" because the Russians had (and may still have) far looser rules about who they will sell guns to than the western countries like the USA. Plus the Russians considered pretty much any country or group that opposed the USA their friends (as a rule).

The reason so many people use is its because its cheap powerful and accurate.

Wow, accuracy by use of inaccuracy. I might try that on renegade by soldier rushing and shooting around like a loony.
BTW, can someone get some ingame screenshots and post them? I don't normally get files if they don't get shown to me first, so I don't have to search through Ren Data to find the right files to remove.
