Now I'd love for someone to prove me wrong here, but versus INFANTRY, doesn't it seem like a regular chain gun is doing more with headshots than a laser chaingun? Now obviously the chaingun will never do anywhere close to the type of damage that a LCG can do to a vehicle, or the range...But for infantry, am I correct about this?

afaik the Both do 10 Damage, the LCG making an extra 10 Burning damage. However, The LCG sprays a bit more.

Chaingun = 5 Damage, due to Steel warhead, 10 damage to infantry. 10x5=50 damage.

LCG = 8x5 = 45 + 10 burn damage pershot. Unless my math is wrong, 55 > 50.

But the bullets probably hit people more than the burn damage so it'd probably be doing damage faster.... Did that make sense?

The difference is marginal, MWright, especially considering that the LCG has the highest Rate Of Fire of any weapon in the game. While it's damage-per-shot might be less, it's damager-per-second is higher, especially when you throw in it's burn damage.

In addition, The LCG has more utility, since it's also effective against vechs, and would be my second choice (After the ramjet) to have if I was being attacked by an Orca.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I've been kicked out of inf only games, and CTF games for using the normal Chaingun, and getting accused of cheating.

I've even been banned a couple times : (
But I've always cleared my name, proved I haven't been cheating, and continued on with the same performance.

Chaingun is a beast.
