Yeah, alot of them are for fair gameplay use, the golden ion beacons are cheesy, but to be honest, when I play tested them, didn't really make much difference, but maybe am just blind as a bat. Tell Me

Np, They are fair but like the others said there are some unfair ones(coloured c4, remote, proxy, beacons).

I get better FPS in newer games then I do in Renegade. The w3d engine for Renegade is pretty crap. Around 30FPS sounds about right depending on the graphics settings and resolution you are running the game at.

You could try during a game pressing f8 and then typing "CLIENT_PHYSICS_OPTIMIZATION" without quotes of course.

What does that command do?

What CPU do you have Blue_Leader? Renegade online is rather CPU intensive. That video card should be able to play Renegade, but not with high resolution/AA and all that. My old geForce4 Ti4200 (much better than an FX 5200) managed 1280x960 resolution with 4xAF and 2xAA as a maximum (remember AA and AF penalized the GeForce4 series hard) without loosing too much FPS.

Well I did this and my fps went up from 20-30 to 60-100+ and this is with Geforce Fx 5500 128MB and a 2.2Ghz processor.

EDIT: Using a CRT monitor would proby increase fps too.

In the options menu, there's a "performance" slider. The more u put it down, the more fps u'll get but the worse your game will look.

TBH: your video card is crap, it must be about 4 years old? That's almost as old as this game... Anyway, 30+ players is a lot as well. If you play in a bit smaller games, you won't have these FPS problems.

30 FPS should still be playable, though.

CRTs refresh rates are generally higher thus allowing more FPS. But its not going to help if your card can't proform to the standard of 60FPS.

turn down your video card settings old games have tendencies to lag even on current day comps because of shitty coding and such
