The database is locked every 2 hours and a complete backup of it is made. This means that if the forums get attacked then the worst data loss will be 2 hours.
The downside of this is that when the database is locked everyone has to wait for the backup to finish before they can access it, meaning the site doesn't load.
That was before. I think this has changed.
There was a moment where this site was replaced with a "I'm now fixing the problem that makes backups take so long ... - Crimson" note at one point.
Supporters of Proposition 8 will argue California does not discriminate against gays, as the current law allows them to get married - as long as they wed a partner of the opposite sex.
