Surprised that I never really heard about this game before. I have been looking around for info and where to buy it. I am intrigued by the community here...

Love RTSs, was a big AOE and AOK fan in the past, and play UT and CS:S... but looking for something different without having to upgrade my computer once again.

Where can I buy the game?

The electronics section of most big stores will have "C&C: The First Decade" in stock. That gives you all the RTS games plus Renegade.

If you look harder, you might be able to find the "C&C Collection." This only contains Tiberian Sun and its expansion, Red Alert 2 and its expansion, and Renegade. I can't tell you who might have this though.

It's really not that hard to find that TS/FS, RA2, and Renegade pack I've seen it everywhere pretty much.(That is if I'm thinking of the right pack.)

And if you already have UT3...

Hey Logtar! Welcome here to Renegadeforums!

I got the game 11 months ago in a GameStop. I think it was EBGames actually. Anyway, I am not so sure if they continue to sell them. These stores seem to carry only the recent RTS and FPS and not older games.

Anyway, keep looking! Also you can call them and check with them to see if they have them.

One thing to remember: Never buy the game as "used" or from online UNLESS it is new and sealed.

Yeah, Renegade might be old, but it's still a pretty badass game. I just reccomend learning alot about the game and stratagies before you go into an AOW server.

Here's one of the most fundemental rules in any combat situation: NEVER STAND STILL. You're just cannon/sniper fodder if you do.

Rp2 pretty much IS its own game. It plays alot differently. Reborn, APB, and AR have similer gameplay (Destroy the enemy base with infantry/vehicle/whatever), just with more ways to do it and set in another universe and such.

Roleplay 2, if anything, is one of the only mods that's actually alot different. Especially the EKTRPG server.

I don't know why "FREE GAMES" is large. I never remember charging people money to play the mod.

The point I'm trying to make is, our games don't require Renegade to be installed, they're standalone, whereas your mod required Renegade to be installed.

Quite a difference, no?

Hence why I said "games" and not "mods".

I don't think u'll be playing it on Linux, though. Your FPS will go way down.

You can find me in The KOSs2 (TK2) discord while I'm playing. Feel free to come and say hi! TK2 discord

What are you basing this statement on? I know people who play Renegade under linux with no problems Razz Yes running under linux you do not get all of the resources as running natively, but Renegade is an older game and doesn't require 100% of a decent machine.

A friend of mine got it running on a very recent machine with Linux and still had a very low FPS. On same machine with windows, he got a very stable 75 FPS.

Maybe he did it wrong, but I don't think there's 56 different ways to do it...

When you got the game, you need a couple of updates/patches to play decently on-line

Install the Renegade 1.037 patch. You can download it from ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/updates/

read and follow this guide: http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=18892&start=0&rid=4 882

download and install a anti cheat programm called "renguard" from www.renguard.com.

Get a newer version of scripts.dll here: http://4camp.net/scripts314.exe

NOTE: If you get TFD(The First Decade) you will not need the 1.037 patch.

Well guys, this weekend I found the first decade and I am stoked!

I have not been able to install it yet, family in town that I have to entertain but I figure before the week is over I should be playing.

My main machine is pretty decent for this game as far as hardware I think, I built it a couple of years ago

AMD 2500/333 ATHLON XP 1.8
MB nForce2|5P1A4D NF7-S V2 ABIT ATX
DDRAM 1GB|64X64 PC-3200B CRUCIAL
PWRCLR|RADEON9600PRO 128M 8X

The Linux box I have won't be as beefy but I might try 56 different ways to make it push some more FPS if I have the time so I have have a couple of machines here at home that run it.

Other than that, I am happy that there is a community for the game that is still alive, and I will check the other FREE and MOD games.

But people only really play renegade's online games. APB and the others don't really get much for players on their servers, so if you want a good C&C multiplayer game you pretty much have to buy Renegade.

That system will be able to run it with ease on a Windows based platform, don't know about Linux but keep us informed.
